General Description Of The RoleThe Bottling Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of his/her bottling equipment and is an integral part of the daily production of finished goods. Given the nature of the Company’s business and the marketplace, the business and/or jobs will evolve and change over time. Accordingly, the Company may add to or remove from the duties and responsibilities set out below as circumstances change. Key Relationships Internal:

Overview Of Role Responsibilities Quality
  • Performs visual checks on labels before and after loading in the machine to ensure they are correct
  • Performs visual checks on glass and plastic bottles to ensure no chips and cracks are present, removing them from the line when necessary
  • Performs checks of re-shipper cartons to ensure they enter the case packing equipment correctly and are free from a visual and physical defect
  • Monitors liquid fill heights and maintains fill weights according to specification
  • Notifies bottling supervisor of any quality issues identified
Safety
  • Comply with all PPE safety requirements for assigned work area.
  • Immediately report any safety items related to you or any departmental employees. Safety items to be reported include but are not limited to bodily injury, near misses, potential dangers, spills and/or any other accidents.
  • Adheres to good housekeeping, safety, environmental, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines
  • Complies with all aspects of the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Act as well as all Forty Creek Distillery Ltd. policies and procedures
Efficiency
  • Ensures the machine is running properly and notifies supervisors of any problems noticed
  • Troubleshoots equipment and make adjustments as necessary to maintain packaging standards
  • Notifies maintenance and bottling supervisor regarding safety issues or equipment performance issues identified
  • Ensures floors are swept and mopped and garbage is carried or carted to the outside dumpster
  • Maintains accuracy and productivity standards while running the designated equipment
  • Assists with bottling line changeovers in accordance with the production schedule and to specifications set by the manufacturer and Maintenance Supervisor and Bottling Supervisor
  • Cleans parts and equipment during a changeover and places the parts on their respective change part carts
  • Other duties as assigned
Sanitation
  • Keeps work area clean and free of clutter
  • Ensures the bottling equipment and change parts are cleaned at the end of each shift
Experience Requirement
  • 1+ years working in a production or modern packaging facility is an asset
Education / Professional Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English with comprehension.
Skills Functional:
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Procedures
  • Clear understanding of Forklift and Pedestrian safety
  • Ability to properly use all tools, machinery, and equipment while following all relevant health and safety policies and procedures
  • Maintains a safe working area by ensuring basic inspections of machines and tools, knows and applies the rules for personal and machine safety
  • Exercises common sense and personal accountability in identifying hazards in the workplace
  • Strong teamworking skills
  • Knows and applies procedures when handling product and/or raw materials
Technical:
  • Must be able to take direction and follow packaging and safety procedures
  • Dexterity and consistency are necessary qualities
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment is important
Other:
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Strong decision-making skills and sound judgement
  • Prioritizes company goals and lives the Campari values
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate positively and work effectively with others
Other Requirements
  • Required to be in a standing position for an eight-hour shift
  • Work outside normal business hours is required on occasion
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 kilograms
  • Exposure to dust, heat, and irritable odors may occur
