General Description of the Role/Position Context
This role is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of maintenance activities related to Distillery Operations at New Yarmouth Distillery. The incumbent must ensure the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of all utilities (steam, electricity, water) and the proper maintenance of all associated equipment and facilities) used by these purposes. The upkeep and maintenance of the distribution and transmission lines outside of the immediate compound are also the responsibility of this position.

General Description of the Role/Position Context
This role is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of maintenance activities related to Distillery Operations at New Yarmouth Distillery. The incumbent must ensure the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of all utilities (steam, electricity, water) and the proper maintenance of all associated equipment and facilities) used by these purposes. The upkeep and maintenance of the distribution and transmission lines outside of the immediate compound are also the responsibility of this position.
Mission/Objectives
- Defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for objectives and targets are consistently achieved.
- Efficiency targets are met.
- Safety, Health & Environment policies are strictly adhered to at all times resulting in the decrease or elimination of injuries on the job and lost man hours.
- Required reports are provided with consistency and a high degree of accuracy.
- Comprehensive maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment are developed, communicated, implemented and evaluated for all best results as necessary.
- Assigned projects are properly developed and executed, meeting the defined objectives within the scope, cost and time.
- Malfunctions of machinery and equipment area accurately diagnosed and effectively repaired at all times.
- The incumbent displays a good relationship with fellow employees and demonstrates good leadership skills.
- Ensures the efficient and safe operations of all Distillery facilities and equipment through careful monitoring and maintenance.
- Improve reliability in the Distillery’s Powerhouse Operation and instrumentations supporting the different operational systems across the Distillery.

- Steam and power generation stations as well as R.O. Plants are managed according to expected standards.
- Safety and environmental guidelines are practiced, and company standards met.
- Job duties meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Ensure that all equipment are properly repaired and maintain as required to ensure optimum and efficient production performance
- Evaluate all electrical and instrument systems and applications for any improvements that may be necessary to improve the operations of the Distillery.
- Ensure all instruments requiring calibration are calibrated as per the required schedule.
- Prepares specifications and parts lists for equipment and requisitions parts/services for repairs and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist with the Electrical and Instrument installation and commissioning of new equipment ensuring that installation and operations conform to the required technical standards.
- Implement and monitor preventative maintenance systems for all equipment, and provide solutions to reduce equipment failures
- Analyse performance of all equipment and determine the need for modification or replacement to improve reliability and effective monitoring of operational systems.
- Update maintenance management system daily.
- Execute maintenance of instrumentation and control panels and PLC Systems in accordance to expected company standards.
- Manage critical spare parts to ensure prompt response to defective equipment that will create downtime in the operations.
- Update and maintain Critical Instruments List for all critical instruments used in the operation
- Ensure samples of raw water, boiler water, and boiler feed water, permeate, condensate and product of RO and Softener Units, are collected and analysed.
- Ensure Water Treatment Systems and Distillery Vessels are chemically cleaned and maintained as necessary
- Organize and execute out of crop maintenance on all equipment to prepare for the new production season
- Performs scheduled maintenance checks and repairs according to established timelines/usage hours for major machinery and equipment such as turbines, pumps, diesel engines, compressors etc.
- Review all accidents/incidents reports and implement preventive measures as required.
- Assists with equipment safety training for staff and all contractors as required.
- Ensures all Safe Work Plans and permits are prepared and presented for review by the Safety Team
- Execute Breakdown Analysis and report on Monthly Equipment Failures and Operating Efficiencies of all equipment including Boilers, Turbines, R.O. Plant, Generators and production equipment.
- Provide monthly feedback related to maintenance expenditure relative to budget by updating checkbook.
- Update employees timecard in KRONOS application.
- Conduct performance reviews for maintenance workers and establish performance objectives
- Ensures full compliance of all QHSE Requirements. This includes adherence to 5’s protocols and other GMP as per company policy
- Liaises with external suppliers and contractors and relevant authorities in the execution of job functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Ensure that discipline is maintained in keeping with the provision of the company’s disciplinary codes and guidelines
- Sign off on gate passes for material and duty vehicle leaving the premises.
- Authorize material and personnel gate passes and stores material requisitions.
- Authorize overtime work.
- Update Employee timecards and approve vacation leave for submission to Engineering and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Identify and recommend approved external contractors and machine shops to carry out specific work.
- Recommend the ordering of supplies and spares.
- Recommends disciplinary action against employees.
- Intervenes whenever conditions exist that poses an immediate or potential risk to equipment or buildings and to take corrective action as necessary.

Experience Required
- Minimum of five (5) years working experience in a senior engineering position.
- Technical knowledge and work experience, specialization in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering, within the manufacturing industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical Instrumentation Engineering or related discipline.
- Training/Certification in use of PLC software
- Project Management Training desired
