General Description Of The Role

Responsible for the effective management of all Capital Expenditure projects for Supply Chain Kingston equipment and infrastructure, ensuring all aspects are performed in accordance with best practices and procedures are executed with safety and environmental compliance at the forefront. Also, responsible for ensuring that the financial management of all such projects is always maintained to a high degree of accuracy.


To utilize KNOWLEDGE, TECHNOLOGY, AUTOMATION and TEAMWORK to drive solutions in the most efficient manner, while maintaining EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION, internally and externally, and creating an EFFICIENT, PRODUCTIVE, CLEAN and SAFE working environment.

The job has been successfully performed when:

  • All CAPEX projects Supply Chain are suitably developed, scoped, costed, planned, and executed in accordance with standard project procedures.
  • The CAPEX budget is properly tracked and managed
  • Key stakeholders have been informed and involved in Capex plan development; Project execution aligned and balanced with other plant needs.
  • Defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for objectives and targets are consistently achieved.
  • Health & Safety policies are always strictly adhered to resulting in the decrease or elimination of injuries on the job and lost man hours
  • Required reports are provided with consistency and a high degree of accuracy.
  • All operating procedures and training of operation staff are executed following the completion of major projects.
  • The incumbent displays a good working relationship with fellow employees and demonstrates good management skills.
  • Schedules and deadlines are consistently met.
  • Carries out research and provides technical advice and assistance in the tactical and strategic decision-making process of the department.

Key Responsibilities And Activities

  • Builds the capex budget and strategic plan for Supply Chain relating to, equipment, infrastructure, and facilities, in compliance with general corporate, production and operating policies, as well as quality, health, safety and environment standards including energy management.
  • Support Supply Chain teams in the maximization of production efficiency, the minimization of operating costs, by identifying and developing the improvement projects
  • Ensures the proper commissioning of the new equipment, collaborating with the supplier companies and the stakeholders involved, monitoring the performance level, as well as guaranteeing constant on-site assistance, to ensure its correct functioning.
  • Ensures, in relation to the plant, infrastructure and facilities, adequate levels of service and safety at work, as well as optimal operating costs, through the supervision of the systematic execution of Capex projects, in line with the company policies.
  • Ensures that all projects are suitably developed, scoped, costed, planned, and executed in accordance with standard project procedures
  • Ensure the application of the procedures of the management systems of maintenance, energy, environment, health, occupational safety, and food safety.
  • Take part in investigations into accidents, injuries and near accidents.
  • Adhere to all relevant quality, housekeeping, efficiency, administrative and Safety Procedures always.
  • Develop briefs for project justification documentation of implementation activities and best practices and conduct post completion reviews (including business cases preparation).
  • Interface with Operational Managers to provide continuous information and direction relating to projects within their area.
  • Track the capital expenditure and related projects along the year (for assigned sites) to avoid delays and late result delivery.
  • Drive the preparation of technical specification for new equipment or important modifications.
  • Support the supplier selection with a technical perspective preparing technical comparison of their quotations.
  • Support the implementation of standard Engineering KPI’s, processes, tools, methods, and procedures: Problem Solving methodologies (e.g. PDCA, A3, 8D), Process-FMEAs, CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, Validation) and O.E.E.

Experience Required

  • Experience of at least 5 years in manufacturing factories with positions in Production and/or Plant Engineering and/or Maintenance.
  • Preference for experience in the Food & Beverage industry

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Master's Degree in Engineering Management or Business Administration is a plus
  • Project Management Certification

  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering principles applicable to a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, statutory and mandatory requirements for facilities, plants, and equipment
  • Project Management Training
  • Exposure to Computer Aided Design (CAD) applications
