Main Purpose of The Role:
Supporting key customer on their Customs clearance process ensuring smooth and accurate processing as well as engagements with Customs Authority for Advance Tariff Ruling.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience Clearing
Great knowledge of the ZRA requirements/ customs requirements
Qualifications:
GCE Certificate
Customs Clearing Certificate
Degree/Diploma in Logistics or clearing an advantage
Computer packages
Office 365 (Teams, OneNote, Forms), MS Word, Excel L2, PowerPoint, Outlook Basics, Asycuda
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage with customer on a regular basis understanding their projects
- Engage with Customs regarding Advance Tariff Rulings (ATR) to ensure customer reducing the paying of taxes where applicable and relating to the project at hand.
- Apply for ATR with customs and follow through
- Lodge applications with various applicable ministry’s for permits
- Follow through on the export of samples, where applicable
- Registration of entries; ensure proper declaration, documentation and customs entry management as per customs procedures.
- Calculate duty/taxes and follow up with customs in case of any queries.
- Ensure proper, correct, accurate and timely declaration upon receipt of all clearing documents from client.
- Monitor and ensure entries are processed timely in Customs.
- Coordinate and engage with customer relating to physical inspections and completion thereof.
- Advise the department Manager of any challenges.
- Advice on customs codes, tariffs and duty and management of customs entries as per established procedures and requirements.
- Ensure all documents for customs clearance are in place before proceeding with clearance.
- Follow up on manifests that have not been entered or been improperly entered into the system and make the required adjustments.
- Maintain very close relationship with customs and local authorities to ensure that goods are cleared in the fastest manner with the lowest cost to ensure that new regulations are well anticipated.
- Ensure that available to support with customer requests at short notice and may entail some after hours engagement
- Ensure to follow all the established SOPs in meeting customer KPI’s
- Updating and sending of regular reports to customer in line with KPI’s
- Daily tracking of shipments
- Export sample tracking of shipments
- Payment schedules
- Document tracker of shipments
- Adhoc task relating to Customs Department
