SUMMARY
The DSV Road Transport US Maintenance Support Technician is responsible for servicing customer by combining in-depth diesel repair knowledge with exceptional people skills. This role will coordinate customer relationships and will frequently serve as a liaison between mechanics and drivers; as well as, assisting with the purchase of parts, materials and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Initiates services and repairs by ascertaining vehicle performance problems and service requests; verifying warranty and service contract coverage; developing estimates; writing repair orders; maintaining customer records
- Serves as a communicator and liaison between departments and internal and external customers
- Ensures the driver’s needs are understood by the vendor
- Ensures recommended service/repair are complete and communicated to the company
- Develops standard estimates; material costing, supplies, labor and revenue
- Records accurate, detailed, and complete orders (RO’s)
- Performs data entry into a variety of computer systems; including entering RO into service database system
- Administers the manufacturer warranty when applicable
- Light repair / maintenance work. Lights, mudflaps, DOT inspections
Other Duties
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Prepares and obtains licensing and permit acquisition
- Processes timely invoice document and forwards them to AP
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Class 8 truck and trailer mechanical experience/knowledge
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Computer Skills
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Language Skills
- English (reading, writing, verbal)
Mathematical Skills
- Intermediate
Other Skills
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Highly developed organizational and people skills
- Class 8 truck and trailer mechanical experience/knowledge
- Good communication skills are essential, as is the ability to function within a group dynamic
- Position requires the ability to balance multiple duties at once and a high attention to detail
- Must be a "team player"
- Basic mechanical understanding of diesel mechanics and trailering equipment
- Valid in-state driver’s license
- Basic mechanic hand tools helpful but not a necessity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
- 2 years industry experience desired
- Previous mechanical/diesel experience strongly preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. The employee also regularly lifts and/or moves objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Must be able to travel by plane and automobile.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
