ITA Airways, the Italian national airline, has a rapidly expanding global network and is subsequently looking for an experienced, motivated individual with the desire to get involved with passion and initiative as a Station Duty Manager based in Athene. In this position, you will be able to make a difference in a varied, interesting role, where sustainability is one of our fundamental pillars. You will work on a roster pattern in accordance with operational requirements.

For the Ground Operations function in Athene (Greece), we are looking for:

Station Duty Manager

Job Purpose

Guarantee, in coordination/absence of the Station Manager together with Head Office functions, and in compliance with the operational programs, procedures, and relevant legislation (including customs) the optimum level of performance of Ground Handling operations for all flights operated by ITA Airways. Guarantee through the supervision of assistance provided by third parties, the safeguarding of the Company's image, as well as ensuring maximum customer satisfaction.


  • Contributes to safeguarding, the image and reputation of ITA Airways, guiding the behaviours and actions of the resources which he/she collaborates with.
  • Supervises the operational activities ensuring compliance with service and safety standards by pursuing the objectives of maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures the protection of company assets.
  • For all flights operated by companies in the group, guarantees the optimal level of performance of the ground handling operations by supervising the services provided by third-party suppliers and as required overseeing/visiting the local airport operations.
  • Monitors in line with the company quality and standards procedures, that the quality of the company processes and procedures are delivered as required.
  • Manages inefficiencies related to passengers and baggage through the supplier.
  • Promptly reports to the Station Manager, reference line, Operations Control Centre (OCC), and the Ground Operations Control (GOC) any incipient or sudden critical issues. Provides details on how to deal with the issue / or what has happened, as well as any possible threat to the integrity of operations (e.g. strikes, social unrest, security and safety issues (in coordination with Central Security), lack of resources, IT problems and/or DC systems).
  • Supports the Station Manager in guaranteeing, in the context of the passive cycle, the certification of the services provided by the suppliers of goods / services (e.g. handling agent, caterer, line maintenance, crew transport, hotac, etc.) in relation to quantitative standards / qualitative contractually defined in collaboration with the Ground Administration function Support.
  • In close collaboration with the Station Manager, the Station Duty Manager ensures the constant maintenance of relations with the local airport authorities for the purposes of the optimum performance of airport activities. Ensures through participation in any local or otherwise committees present, in close coordination with the competent central functions, that the necessary flow of information is guaranteed.
  • Guarantees daily operational reporting to the Station Manager and to the reference lines.

Education/Professional Background

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a Greek airport environment.
  • Systematic and logical approach to problem-solving and a capability of working around problems. Good creative and lateral thinking skills. A strong team player, capable of seeing and understanding the bigger picture.
  • Strong knowledge of airline/airport systems, Microsoft and company DCS knowledge.
  • Excellent written/spoken English, knowledge of Italian is a strong advantage.
