Job Overview:

The Platform Scalability Program lies within Platform Modernization initiative which aims to modernize LPL’s solutions to a cloud and microservice-based architecture driving outcomes to improve time to market, reliability, business agility, and scalability. The goal of the Platform Scalability Program is to amplify LPL’s ability & confidence to scale as LPL grows by engaging all of LPL’s domain and platforms to create firm-wide visibility and drive outcomes to best ensure performance and scalability. Included in this critical mission we will also lead LPL in the evolution of performance and scalability best practices & solutions to best-in-class. As a Technology Project Manager, you will be responsible for engaging domain and platform teams to drive performance and scalability outcomes, coaching the teams on best practices and solutions.

The Technology Project Manager works closely with project and scrum teams and reports directly to the Technology Portfolio Management Lead or Technology Portfolio Manager.


  • Coordinate with Project, Scrum, Technology, Business and Vendors to align delivery to OKRs to the program and portfolio
  • Manage Demand Intake for the Program in LPL PDLC, ensuring demand aligns to available budget, handle new Intake requests ensuring availability of funding, or prepare required documentation for additional funding asks
  • Manage the program budget & coordinate with finance to assure funds are available, accounted and properly reported
  • Arbitrate and resolve conflict within the program when necessary. Understand appropriate paths and methods for escalation
  • Provide leadership to project managers/release train engineers, scrum masters, create a positive team environment, and provide direction in ambiguous situations
  • Be proactive and exercise initiative in identifying, tracking, and removing impediments to program success.
  • Understand how individual projects affect the program & portfolio and exercise judgement in raising issues and risks to the program/portfolio level
  • Provide bi-weekly program health reports and participate in monthly portfolio reviews

What are we looking for?

  • 4 year college degree, preferably in Project Management or Computer Science
  • At least 4 years of experience managing highly complex and matrixed IT programs budgets up to $20M
  • Deep understanding of and ability to manage Project and Software Development Life Cycle(s) using Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a release train engineer
  • Comfortable exercising judgment and using analytical skills in ambiguous situations
  • Experience managing requirement solution workshops

  • Experience in precise status reporting at a senior leadership level, including tracking of action items to closure
  • Outstanding attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture
  • Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a changing environment; proactive in seeking out information when necessary
  • Experience in precise status reporting at a senior leadership level, including tracking of action items to closure


  • Working knowledge of Aha!, Confluence or similar tools
  • Strong knowledge of Jira, Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project or similar tools

Pay Range:


Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
