About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Year Experience Officer holds the primary responsibility of overseeing the engagement and connectedness of the current undergraduate senior class, throughout a growing global network. In this role, the Senior Year Experience Officer will be tasked with conceiving, coordinating, and implementing innovative engagement opportunities for seniors. These efforts aim to foster a lasting connection with Alumni Relations, the Advancement Division, and, ultimately, the university itself.

As a dedicated resource for seniors, this officer will serve in a concierge capacity while aligning engagement activities with Northeastern's philanthropic mission. Furthermore, the Senior Year Experience Officer will be responsible for the recruitment and management of student volunteers, through the establishment of peer-to-peer connections and the creation of ambassadors who will actively promote the missions of Alumni Relations and the Advancement Division.

  • Execute creative opportunities for engagement of the senior class that will promote a lifelong relationship with Alumni Relations, the Advancement Division, and the university.
  • Meet 1:1 with seniors to discover their needs, learn more about their experiences and ensure they have knowledge about how to continue their relationship within the global Northeastern network, following their graduation.
  • Meld engagement and philanthropy, in partnership with the Director for Student Engagement + Philanthropy, by creating a cohesive and philanthropic approach to a comprehensive senior year experience that prepares seniors for a lifelong relationship with Northeastern.
  • Deploy innovative and creative avenues of engaging students across all campuses, including Oakland and London, which foster increased awareness, further educates, and nurtures lasting connections to alma mater as students transition to alumni.
  • Recruit, educate, manage, and steward a network of student volunteers across the global network for various positions on the Senior Year Experience Board (SYEB) that will execute effective initiatives related to engagement and philanthropy.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with strategic partners throughout the global network to foster collaborative interactions, communications, and engagement.
  • Participate in university-wide, student-focused activities, providing more opportunities to connect with students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required. At least three (3) years of experience in a combination of alumni relations, student affairs, fundraising, or event management. Experience working in higher education with students and alumni is a plus. This role requires excellent coordination, organization, and written and oral communication skills, including a strong phone presence. Ability to work independently and be productive with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment on several projects at a time is necessary. The ideal candidate will also be detail-oriented with strong customer service and interpersonal skills and have a high level of self-confidence and enthusiasm, as well as proficiency with virtual communication platforms and online learning tools. A self-starter who is flexible to changing priorities, adaptable to new systems and able to interact professionally and diplomatically with students, alumni, volunteers, parents, staff, faculty, vendors, and external entities is preferred.

The Senior Year Experience Officer must be able to represent the university, the Advancement division, Alumni Relations, and Annual Giving in a professional, enthusiastic manner with a customer service and team focus. As a member of the Advancement Division, it is essential for the Senior Year Experience to understand and support the role philanthropy plays in engaging the Northeastern community.
While this role primarily involves engaging with undergraduate students at Northeastern's Boston campus and necessitates the Senior Year Experience Officer to carry out responsibilities in person on the Boston campus, occasional travel may be necessary due to Northeastern’s expanding global network.

Frequent evening and weekend work required as well as a flexible schedule. Other duties as assigned, including assisting at several general events throughout the year.
