Wilson Elser’s Human Resources department currently seeks and HR Business Manager to support our US offices. This position is hybrid with a requirement to be in the office three days per week.

The Human Resources Business Manager is a regional role that provides strategic HR guidance and support for assigned group(s) in areas such as employee relations, talent acquisition, talent development, change management, organizational development, performance management, retention, and compensation administration. Serving as a link between the region’s assigned offices, and firm-wide HR, the successful incumbent is a credible leader that is adept in influencing key stakeholders and creating best in class employee experiences.

The Position

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
  • 8+ years of progressive human resources experience with at least 4 years of HRBP experience resolving complex employee situations and partnering with leadership on business unit objectives and change management initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Strong familiarity with specific employment laws and regulations for the region.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Experience working in a complex and matrix environment.
  • Excellent influencing skills; ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to build strong working relationships and understanding.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Ability to travel between offices as required (travel less than 10%).

Responsibilities

  • Ability to craft regional HR goals as well as implement new policies, procedures, and approaches for the continual improvement of leaders and employees
  • Work closely with Regional Office Managing Partners and Office Administrators to ensure HR policies and practices are consistently applied. Recommend changes to policies and practices as appropriate.
  • Be a trusted advisor to support Regional Managing Partners and managers (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, corrective actions).
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Leverage data analytics to identify themes and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure proper support in all steps of the “employee life cycle” for specific offices.
  • Craft and audit job descriptions and make recommendations to the hiring manager to align with our internal structure.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with HR teams, firm leadership and offices to develop strong work relationships, build morale, increase engagement and increase productivity and retention.
  • Identify training needs for attorneys and staff and individual coaching needs.
  • Ensure successful integration proves for all hires within assigned offices.
  • Work closely with Regional Managing Partners and Office Administrators to assess talent acquisition and development needs and develop and deliver solutions aligned with the office strategy.

The annualized salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000.Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
