Wilson Elser is seeking a Compensation Director.

The Compensation Director is responsible for leading the compensation function across attorneys and professional staff. The Compensation Director plans, develops, and implements incentive compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with the firm’s overall compensation and competitive strategy. This position is also responsible for ensuring the firm’s compensation programs are equitably and consistently administered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline required. Master’s Degree a plus.
  • 8 years of relevant compensation experience, including leadership and management experience.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation desired.
  • Legal industry experience is strongly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership, and good collaborator.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to communicate effectively with attorneys and staff.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Exceptional Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience using UKG for compensation administration is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the implementation and administration of compensation programs.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and firm objectives.
  • Manage the annual compensation process, including budget proposal, base pay, and bonus. Propose guidelines and prepare projections for budget forecasting and collaborate with CPO and Finance as needed. Develop timelines, communications and training programs.
  • Analyzes US market data, trends and recommends updates to current compensation programs.
  • Leads the annual compensation survey participation, benchmarking process, and market data analysis. Continually advances firm benchmarking approach focusing on appropriate competitive peer group.
  • Provides analytics and advice on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
  • Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
  • Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
  • Collaborate with talent acquisition providing insights and recommendations on compensation matters that both support business goals and ensure market competitiveness in compliance with varies pay transparency legislation.
  • Develops and oversees job classification and taxonomy.

The annualized salary range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
