Zucchero (together with Status Quo) was the biggest artist on the bill for the 1999 concerts. The other artists playing during this version of the night were singer Emilia ("Big, big, girl"), John Miles ("Music") and opera singer Natalia Choquette, and ofcourse Status Quo. Zucchero played the biggest set of all the artists: he started of with "Hai scelto me", "Il Volo", a very good version of "Madre Dolcissima", "X colpa di chi" and after the break "Senza una donna" with Proms veteran John Miles and "Miserere" with Natalia Choquette. In Holland the concert was both played on the radio (complete) and on TV (not complete: Zucchero songs are "Il Volo", "X colpa di chi", "Senza una donna" and "Miserere"). A CD was also published of the event, including three Zucchero songs: "Hai scelto me", "Il volo" and "Madre Dolcissima". In the reviews both in the Belgium and in the Dutch press everybody reacted very positive on this version of the night and on Zucchero´s performance. Espacially the Belgium press voted him the best artist of the evening, because even although he´s (according to the Belgium papers, don´t shoot the messenger!) "ugly as the night", but "what a showman!". Even during the 2000 Night of the Proms reviews (with UB40 as leading act, Belgium reviewers talked about Zucchero´s performance. We hope we made the concept of the Night of the Proms a bit clearer to the Italian fans!
