General Description Of The Role

As Marketing Director, you will drive strategy and expertise across a portfolio of key brands in Canada by optimizing category visions, roadmaps and individual brand performance in Canada. This role is a significant leader in the Canadian marketing organization and, with Canada being a top market for many brands in the portfolio, it involves both driving leading performance on financially critical brands working closely with global and internal cross-functional partners. You will be a part of the Marketing Leadership Team, and will lead a team of passionate “Camparistas” to redefine and transform the category space by building memorable and valuable brand experiences. You will need to be comfortable with a fast-moving environment where collaboration and change is key.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy

  • Lead the performance of a portfolio of brands, developing the portfolio vision and roadmap to success while optimizing existing brands and enhancing new product development.
  • Champion brand strategy with key stakeholders across the organization (including Channel and Customer Marketing and Sales) to ensure integration into the Campari Group’s strategy and execution plans.
  • Lead the category’s strategic 5-year planning and consumer communication strategy, ensuring consistency within the category
  • Influence the organization to develop the plan across all marketing touchpoints.
  • Align the Commercial team and Finance on pricing options and ask for feedback to take into account Trade impacts to validate Price Positioning.
  • Work with internal Innovation resources to develop a new product development pipeline, including packaging renovations, line extensions, limited time offerings while liaising with Global Partners and Product Supply Chain to ensure optimal presence and performance.

Brand Builder and Leader

  • Inspire a dynamic team to drive excellence in brand communication and execution by transforming the team’s journey and fostering an environment that continuously brings a game changer mindset.
  • Partner and support the team in all aspects of individual brand strategy, positioning, brand architecture, communication, public relations, and commercial planning while leveraging creativity and a passion for both marketing and the spirits industry.
  • Through inspirational leadership, develop a team’s presence, profile and performance as an individual and within the greater organization.
  • Strategize with agency partners and Global Strategic Marketing to ensure output reflects the strategic vision, roadmap and meets objectives.
  • Lead team to successfully meet brand strategy and budget management.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team, Sales, Customer & Channel Marketing and Global Strategic Marketing to share info on best practices, research projects, and initiatives to facilitate synergies.

Performance Strategy

  • Oversee business performance across the consumer and commercial objectives using a robust but logical category plan.
  • Ownership of category brand’s P&L, long term strategies and performance reporting while ensuring allocation and brand A&P efficiencies across the portfolio.
  • Champion accurate volume and spend forecasting across category focusing on analysis of market, brand, competitor and consumer trends while making key recommendations to address business issues and drive growth.
  • Lead a commercial awareness strategy through the team by focusing on core market plans including pricing, channel, and distribution.
  • Contribute to the development of brand growth model for local brands; responsible for implementing global growth drivers for global/regional priorities at local level, aligning the organization.
  • Set the profitability targets for their brands for the next 3-5 years, working together with Finance team

Requirements

  • 8+ years in brand management with CPG experience, spirits or beverage background in Canada preferred.
  • Passion for great marketing in the spirits and/or beverage industry.
  • MBA preferred; BA/BS required.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing brand teams by providing best in class in team leadership, strategic thinking, consumer focused brand planning and activation, innovation, program development and execution of new product launches.
  • Must demonstrate strong understanding of marketing strategy and an attention to brilliant execution of plans.
  • Creative thinker who can champion the brand and bring it to life.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving and financial/business understanding.
  • Strong ability to effectively present and communicate to leadership and cross functional teams.
  • Able to build collaborative relationships, influence and work cross-functionally.
  • Strong understanding and appreciation for consumer insights and marketing judgment.
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment that is fast paced and able to adapt to changing situations.
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Data Analysis, Brand Health, and Syndicated Research
  • Ability to travel when needed.
