Job Title: Air Freight Manager

Location: Portland, OR

We have an exciting opportunity for an operations Manager that will be responsible for Air Freight Import and Air Freight Export. The position will oversee timely and accurate movement of shipments, documentation, and customer service. This position will include Managers of end-to-end staff performance and profitability. This role drives performance of the team while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance. This position will be based at our Portland Oregon station.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages, oversees, and performs supervisory tasks to direct and control activities performed to effectively manage the end-to-end Air Freight processes.
  • Responsible for Air Freight product profitability including continuous improvement processes to increase efficiencies, reduces waste, and improve performance to our customers.
  • Manages and controls all ground cost margins and prepares monthly activity / revenue reports. Prepares and provides customers and overseas offices with rate quotations.
  • Leads all related vendors to ensure the highest level of service is achieved as well as assists and answers customer inquiries and other related customer service functions.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of invoices, bills of lading, shipping statements, and the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs). Drives KPIs to ensure customer satisfaction and internal targets are met.
  • Supervises staff, responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing staff. Maintains employee records and completes yearly employee performance reviews.
  • Serves as escalation contact for customers Air shipments; responsible for the financial aspects and results. Note some carry over for Ocean work might be required for clients that DGF handles both Air and Ocean.
  • Collaborate with internal customers (Brokerage, Gateway, Trucking, Seattle Station and Handling etc.) for seamless customer service and improve process flows; engage with sales to grow business by participating in sales meetings and customer calls.
  • Review and manage month end reports, review P/L, open Accounts Payables Accounts Receivables; escalates carrier performance issues when required with the Product team and airline carrier contacts as needed.

Skills / Requirements:

  • BA/BS preferred or minimum of 6 years supervisory experience within the logistics / transportation industry.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and presentations)
  • Extensive expertise and knowledge of the logistics / supply chain industry (especially Air Freight)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Ocean Freight Import processes
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to include driving KPIs, employee engagement / team building. Strong ability to develop, coach, train, and mentor staff to success.
  • Overall knowledge of Cargo Wise system is preferred.
