Job Description

Design and implement an effective communications and engagement plan that supports all aspects of internal communications for DHL Supply Chain North America. Drive integrated, coordinated and effective communications throughout region and support the development of messages, tools, platforms and processes that lead to improved performance and the achievement of company goals. Including maximizing awareness, understanding and engagement around strategic, commercial and operational priorities. Develop guidelines and policies to ensure efficient, accurate and compliant processes in employee communications, employer branding and change management-related activities. Work in close collaboration with HR, Operations, Marketing and other relevant business functions, as well as regional and global corporate communications to drive an integrated, coordinated and effective communications process and output

  • Direct and Lead the Communications group
  • Establish and implement strategies that have long-term (5+ years) impact on business results (including non-material/intangible KPIs) in alignment with global objectives and directly impacting the organization’s business strategy
  • Develop, implement and leverage tools and processes that attract, develop and retain the best people so that DHL Supply Chain can be an Employer of Choice
  • Formulate communication strategies and specify communication programs in the areas of internal communications, employer branding, change management and local public relations in line with overall DHL Supply Chain and DPDHL Group guidelines
  • Create a framework for communicating the culture and values oforganization, creating and managing communications that align associates with company strategy and goals
  • Support regional and functional leadership team to ensure business strategy and sector / functional agenda are appropriately showcased and communicated through townhalls, road shows, conferences, presentations, internal communications and other channels.
  • Engage with the operating and functional organizations in developing the communications strategies and tactics for driving large scale change initiatives and Management/Front-Line Associate communications.
  • Oversee preparation and delivery of the content for regular internal channels, such as newsletters, e-zones, e-mail bulletins, etc. as required
  • Provide support with issues management, with direct oversight of employee-related (internally focused) issues
  • Partner with global and regional communications teams (divisional and corporate) to support global projects and initiatives
  • Collaborate with country level HR on all labor issues, ensuring appropriate and effective communication to stakeholders in order to protect the company’s interests
  • Analyze complex environments and suggest modifications and improvements that influence the way the communication function is operating; approve new communication processes, systems, standards and policies, etc.
  • Work closely with Regional Marketing to ensure alignment and integration of communications themes around branding, messaging, etc with internal audience
  • Continuously improve means in which regionally driven messages are shared via databases, e-mail, and print across the organization
  • Serve as the editorial and process gatekeeper for managing any internal communications which announces key leadership changes across the Region (level 2-4), Regional/B.U. Front-Line news and Corporate driven news
  • Selection and on-going management of any Vendors affecting Regional internal communications. Work with marketing to leverage Vendor spend where feasible.
  • Support the local site level (i.e. Westerville) Public Affairs agenda including the selection and management of the vendors
  • Work in an integrated way with regional Communications, Sustainability & Brand team to contribute to global / regional internal communications campaigns, submit content to global channels to raise Americas profile / Share-of-Voice, exchange BDPs and content across business units, assist in developing and delivering strategies and initiatives, support with regular and ad hoc reporting (including quarterly report and news flash).
  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with senior business leaders within DHL Supply Chain and with other business units, partner organizations and customers
  • Negotiate critical agreements/contracts with other departments and 3rd parties
  • Champion cooperation and partnership to provide integrated solutions to problems
  • Day to day communications team management including overseeing resources working on internal communications initiatives (i.e. Smart Connect application roll-out) and project groups
  • Communications budget administration

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 7+ years of management of communications activities, ideally in a heavily populated hourly / non-exempt work environment
  • Strategic communications planning & development
  • Advanced writing and content development
  • Deep knowledge of Supply Chain business, customers and associates
  • Ability to quickly gain credibility with DSC North America leadership
  • Crisis communications and issues management
