Summary

The Ocean Import Team Lead is responsible for managing a team of ocean import coordinators to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of goods to clients. The role involves supervising team members, coordinating with carriers, vendors and customers, and ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a team of ocean import coordinators, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and customers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records and ensure compliance with all import regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of invoices and billing statements.
  • Resolve any issues that may arise during the import process, including customs clearance issues, vendor delays, or damaged goods.
  • Collaborate with other teams, such as customer service and sales, to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

Educational background / Work experience

  • A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in ocean import operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Familiarity with import regulations, customs clearance procedures, and industry best practices.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient in using computer software programs related to logistics and supply chain management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities (if any)

  • Responsible for managing a team of ocean import coordinators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with leading ocean cargo logistics software and systems
  • Familiarity with ocean freight regulations, customs requirements, and import controls
  • Knowledge of shipping routes and schedules

Language skills

  • Fluency in English is required
  • Knowledge of additional languages is a plus

Computer Literacy

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with logistics software and systems is required

For this position, the expected base pay is: $25.5 - $34.75 / Hourly. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
