JOB DESCRIPTION

Role: Team Leader

Responsible to: Manager

Job Purpose:

To supervise a small team ensuring that all tasks are completed according to guidelines and health and safety regulations.

To act as Fire Marshall for the shift.

To ensure customer product is packed on to pallets following guidelines and Health and Safety regulations. To move the pallets to appropriate warehouse locations. To pick and assemble orders for dispatch; load and unload vehicles as required.

Main Duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervise a small team ensuring that all tasks are completed according to guidelines and Health and Safety regulations.

  • Report any absences to the Manager (or Office Manager in absence)

  • Report any unresolved issues, damages or incidents to the Manager (or Office Manager in absence)

  • At the start of each shift, ensure that staff ID cards are placed in the relevant attendance ladder, and in the event of a fire ensure that all staff on shift vacate the premises safely and are accounted for at the nominated assembly point. This also applies to any third-party drivers who may be in the warehouse.

  • Complete a Face-to-Face Handover with oncoming Shift Team Leader and complete / sign Team Leader Handover Document.

  • Control Shift Holidays ensuring that only 1 team member is off at anyone time, enter details into Shift Diary and inform Manager (or Office Manager in absence)

  • of these requests.

  • Weigh customer product.

  • Examine and inspect customer product in order to ensure that packing specifications are met.

  • Collect packaging materials and ensure they are suitable and fit for purpose. Complete documentation for the purposes of stock control and audit. Replenish throughout the shift, and ensure there are sufficient packaging materials for the start of the next shift.

  • Pack, wrap and label customer product following specific instructions

  • Remove completed product using fork lift trucks, placing them on the handover area or on to the conveyor system.

  • Remove scrap reels from the packing areas as and when necessary.

  • Stack or locate finished product within the warehouse and use scanning equipment to confirm location

  • Prepare goods for shipment

  • Load finished product on to vehicles for dispatch.

  • Offload deliveries of packaging and other materials and check against delivery notes

  • Follow Health and Safety regulations at all times

  • Keeping work areas clean and tidy

  • Any other duties which may be required from time to time commensurate with the role.

Equipment

The following equipment may be used on a regular basis and must be used safely:

  • Overhead cranes, slings and hooks

  • Pallet wrappers

  • Forklift trucks, both counter-balance and reach

  • Hand-held strapping tools

  • Hand-held scanners

Other equipment may be introduced and used after full training.
