CIB Human Resources Business Advisor, Associate

The Human Resources (HR) Business Advisor role sits within the firm wide HR Business Advisor organization – a Center of Excellence/Shared Service construct. The HR Business Advisor’s responsibility is to work with managers at varying levels of the organization to execute strategic priorities set by senior leaders. They provide support to senior HR Business Advisors and senior managers on core HR activities. They help senior managers engage with others in HR and with specialists to bring resolution to their HR-related matters.

As the HR Business Advisor, you will work closely with and provide strategic HR advisory and support to clients within the Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB). You are a strong HR professional who thrives in a demanding, fast paced global environment. You are able to operate effectively within a highly matrixed organization and be able to leverage resources from multiple areas to deliver results. You will support and deliver on solutions based on business priorities and organizational analysis whilst coordinating the implementation of HR policies, programs and services.

Job responsibilities

  • Work with Senior HRBA to consult with, provide advice and recommendations on a full spectrum of HR activities, i.e. organizational design, people management, employee relations, compensation, staffing, performance management, career and talent management, employee counselling, HR policies & procedures, learning & development. Facilitate and design collaborative solutions on emerging people matters
  • Provide creative and pragmatic advice/ guidance to support business stakeholders to effectively manage and resolve human capital issues whilst ensuring all actions conform to regulatory/ legislative; best practice and corporate policies. Ensure appropriate controls are in place and managed effectively for all critical HR processes
  • Partner with HRBA and business stakeholders to drive transformation and change by communicating and advocating meaningful value proposition to business, develop people agenda initiatives in alignment with business priorities, aid and track progress
  • Co-ordinate talent management programs: identify future leaders, succession plans, promotion candidates, competency gaps, mobility opportunities and diverse talent
  • Provide advice on Employee Relations related matters, and recommend solutions in a timely fashion following established guidelines. Support and coach managers on matters including flexible working arrangements, absence and sickness, grievances, disciplinary issues and redundancies in partnership with appropriate specialist groups both locally and regionally, stay current on best practices
  • Co-ordinate the compensation process including maintaining data integrity, analysing and auditing data, educating managers on the firm's compensation philosophy and year end communications, and coaching managers in making fair, robust and well differentiated decisions around employee pay
  • Work with management information systems (MIS) and reporting to understand trends and outliers, and facilitate fact based, metrics driven client decisions. Partner with HR colleagues of all levels to drive efficiencies and leverage best practices. Provide project management support for HR-related initiatives being implemented within LOBs and provide support cross-LOB and large-scale initiatives

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum 5 years of overall HR experience
  • Experience within the Banking environment is required
  • Minimum of a bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Ability to navigate a global matrix organization and partner on issues across HR and the business. Must be able to work collaboratively and to develop and promote strong, positive working relationships
  • Exceptional judgment, demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and be creative in developing alternative solutions in a fast-paced environment. Ability to utilize critical thinking and analytical skills regularly to identify issues and trends, develop solutions and/or recommendations to address root cause
  • Strong analytical, consulting, quantitative and technical skills that enable individual to leverage data to create HR strategies that support and drive business results. Project management abilities including execution skills and end to end process improvement. Technically proficient in MS Office Suite – including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, at all levels of the business;

  • Strong generalist knowledge of human resources processes, principles, concepts and methodology in a business setting, across goal setting, performance assessment and improvement, compensation practices, talent review and talent management, workforce planning, reductions in force, manager development
  • Able to manage multiple projects, understand the business and execute efficiently.
