KPMG is currently seeking an Associate/Senior Associate, Renewable Energy Credits Engineer to join our Accounting Methods and Credit Services practice.
- Develop and provide knowledge in federal tax credits including but not limited to: Investment Tax Credits (ITC) (Section 48 and 48E) and Production Tax Credits (PTC) (Section 45 and 45Y), Advanced Manufacturing Investment Tax Credits 48D (CHIPS), Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit (Section 45X), the Carbon Oxide Sequestration Credit (Section 45Q), the Zero-emission Nuclear Power Production Credit (Section 45U), the Clean Hydrogen Production Credit (Section 45V), the Clean Fuel Production Credit (Section 45Z), and the other various credits and requirements as introduced or modified in the Inflation Reduction Act.
- Assist with Tax Credit design and implementation of projects for the credits listed above
- Calculate and document credits through preparation of contemporaneous technical documentation, technical memoranda, quantitative workpaper preparation, and more
- Establish project management framework, communication protocols, and establish data management systems for information management; provide regular communication and project management oversight services during the full project life cycle
- Provide support for credit eligibility and the application of credit requirements to the credit-eligible properties; support new business development, including add-on business, while sustaining excellent client service by networking within the firm and building on existing relationships outside of the firm; offer quality assurance, engagement review and exam support
- Supervise and aid in the development and training of employees; develop and mentor Associates and Interns
- Minimum one year of recent tax renewable energy credit experience in a public accounting firm, engineering, or corporate taxation group; minimum two years of recent tax experience in a public accounting firm or corporate taxation experience for Senior Associate
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in engineering field; mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering is preferred.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PDF, and PowerPoint
- Experience performing tax research, tax credit, reading case law and familiarity with the internal revenue code and associated regulations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to handle multiple engagements and client service teams
- Ability to travel and work at client locations
