Postdoctoral Research Associate – Drug Discovery/ Computational Biology, The Roux Institute – Portland, Maine

The Logothetis Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate, specializing drug discovery and computational biology, to join to join our community of interdisciplinary faculty, researchers, and graduate students.

The Logothetis Lab aims to perform structure-based drug discovery to generate specific and highly potent and efficacious small molecules both as research probes and as potential therapeutics.

The position will be based at the Roux Institute of Northeastern University in Portland, Maine and will be in a hybrid format, requiring the postdoc to work both remotely and on campus to nurture interactions with group members and other computational scientists. Daily interactions with the Boston campus-based group will also be expected.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a PhD in bioinformatics, health sciences, or a related field. Successful candidates should be able to undertake substantial full-time research or scholarship, work under the supervision of a senior scholar, and have strong communication and writing skills. The selected candidate should have developed advanced research independence skills through graduate/postgraduate training in carrying out this type of work both through familiar but also unfamiliar steps.

Desirable skills for this position include but are not limited to: Docking and Molecular Dynamics simulations, bioinformatics simulations, in silico drug discovery, programming skills, familiarity with the Linux operating system and with leading software in protein computational work (e.g., AMBER, GOLD, AutoDock, Discovery Studio, VMD, PyMol, MODELLER, etc.).
