The Senior Data Management Specialist at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will collect and document metadata within software development process. Develop business and technical data lineage metadata and documentation in collaboration with subject matter experts and data stewards. Develop long term strategy for collection of data lineage metadata across a very complex data environment. Serve as an enterprise governance point of contact to business unit data owners and data stewards in relationship to data lineage metadata. Design, build and maintain automated processes to operationalize data catalog and data lineage metadata. Build and mature other enterprise data management capabilities within enterprise data catalog. Design and implement new metadata management functionality. Configure data catalog solutions based on business requirements and specifications, including data assets, relationships, domains, communities, and overall operating model. Integrate data catalog in ongoing initiatives and projects. Define workflow, security, and integration requirements. Create and maintain workflows to facilitate governance processes. Work closely with business data stewards and governance team to define new use cases for other data management capabilities, such as data quality, master data management (MDM), or data modeling. Define business requirements for specific use cases. Partner with enterprise architects to ensure appropriate design. Analyze design options and provide estimates for feature implementation. Perform data analysis and data research to recommend ways to improve quality of data. Build integrations between sources of record and governance technologies (both on prem and in cloud). Follow Agile scrum software development lifecycle within all development activities. Telecommuting permitted. Salary $136,406 - $182,000 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 2 years (or a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a database architect, data management analyst, or similar occupation. Experience must include 2 years of experience with each of the following: (1) implementations of operational, business intelligence, and analytical technologies; (2) Agile and Dev Ops environments; (3) architecting and designing data management solutions; (4) data governance and data management workspaces, including data lineage, data quality, and data remediation; and (5) data cataloging with Collibra.
