The Lead Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will design software architecture for new repositories and projects. Use Agile methodologies and participate in all scrum ceremonies including Spring, Refinement, Planning, Retro, and Demo. Participate in solution engineering discussions, create Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) for various projects. Write unit and integration test scenarios using Proxyquire, Mocha, Chai, and JEST. Perform gap analysis, bring data from internal teams, and store it in delta lakes. Design and develop micro services-based REST APIs using Spring, Spring Boot, and Node JS. Establish, aggregate, and share team standards and best practices. Create software applications using Java, J2EE frameworks, Simple Object Access Protocol web services, and Message Queues. Perform code review for merge requests and peer review for change requests. Convert business requirements to technical requirements and prepare architecture diagram for both batch and APIs. Develop OAuth 2.0 implementation to integrate with third-party vendor. Create API keys for different environments and implement vault for batch operations. Mentor junior engineers on coding best practices and release management. Setup postman collection for internal and external team API calls and ensure that calls are functioning as expected. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week. Salary $123,386- $246,740 per year.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 5 years of experience as a software developer or related occupation. Experience must include 3 years with each of the following: (1) creating software applications using Java, J2EE frameworks, Simple Object Access Protocol web services, and Message Queues; (2) writing SQL queries in Oracle, SQL, MySQL, Postgres, and DB2; (3) building and deploying scalable architectures in AWS Cloud using Docker and Kubernetes via Git – CICD; (4) designing and developing micro services-based REST APIs using Spring, Spring Boot, and Node JS; (5) writing unit and integration test scenarios using Proxyquire, Mocha, Chai, and JEST; and (6) building batch related applications using Spring Batch and ELT framework.
