Advanced Markets General Intern

As a Summer Intern, you will support our Advanced Markets function and work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to complete tasks critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. The Advanced Markets team provides end-to-end support to NM clients and advisors in the Bank, Corporate, Closely Held Business, and Estate markets.

We are here to help you both identify and continue to develop your future career goals and passions. Job responsibilities include:

  • Development of research reports and presentations on Corporate and Bank insurance topics such as products, competitors, regulations, market dynamics
  • Supporting management reporting efforts
  • Special projects and assistance with ad hoc requests from internal partners
  • General department support including planning team events and supporting engagement programs

Bring Your Best! What this role needs. Minimum qualifications

  • Incoming senior (Expected to graduate in May 2026)
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in General Business, Management, Strategy, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following:
  • Employer immigration sponsorship is not available for this role

Preferred skills and Proficiencies

  • Aptitude to critically and logically evaluate costs, risks and benefits of alternatives before coming to a solution
  • Skilled at engaging and modeling adventurous, consultative and constructive dialogue; confidence to offer new and potentially challenging ideas to further conversation and critical thinking
  • Ability to deliver difficult and/or sophisticated messages and help others understand multiple points of view
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
  • High degree of self-motivation, passion, and a drive to learn
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities

Pay rates for internships are determined based on academic tenure and major.
