Summary

The Business Engagement Analyst is responsible for producing a variety of work product under the umbrella of Information Governance. Work product includes, but is not limited to, analyzing Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCG) requests in order to administer and process requests related to the Firm-wide OCG program, maintaining highly confidential and sensitive conflict information, assisting attorneys with the intake of new matters during the lateral onboarding process and the production of conflicts reports associated with new business, attorney and staff recruiting. The Analyst must be able to work effectively with a variety of law firm members, including firm counsel, conflicts counsel, numerous lawyers, paralegals, and staff members. In all situations, it is expected that the Analyst will maintain the highest levels of respect, confidentiality and professionalism in the execution of the responsibilities. All work product by the Analyst is guided by Information Governance principals in order to adhere to and meet firm standards.

This position reports to the Senior Business Engagement Manager.

Required Education & Experience

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 4-5 years' law firm or conflicts management experience.
  • Strong computer skills required.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Law Firm experience preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Outside Counsel Guideline (50%)
    • Administer and process requests related to the Firm-wide Outside Counsel Guideline (OCG) program for Information Governance.
    • Analyze OCG requests from an IG perspective as it relates to new business including waiver letters, engagement letters and information retention/disposition.
    • Analyze OCG requests to determine what parent, affiliate and subsidiary companies are defined as the client for purposes of evaluating conflicts of interest and determine whether the client and firm agree to limit conflict analysis to particular entities for which the firm performs services.
    • Analyze OCG requests to determine if the client and firm agree that competitors of a firm client should have a conflict of interest search run and be entered into the firms related parties' database.
    • Assist Conflicts Counsel by maintaining the firms conflict waiver repository by entering, removing and updating entries as needed.
    • Collaborate with firm counsel, conflicts counsel, firm attorneys and firm administrators as needed.
  • Conflicts Management (40%)
    • Collaborate with firm counsel, conflicts counsel and firm administrators to define the scope of confidential mergers, combinations, PLAF and new hire searches in addition to client matters.
    • Analyze information within requests from attorneys to determine how to extract the information from the related parties' database to produce the most accurate result set based on knowledge of data.
    • Analyzes final conflicts reports by making key decisions as to what parties may be producing false positives to assist the conflicts attorneys in conflicts clearance. Clears the false positives to provide accurate reporting.
    • Assist Firm Counsel by maintaining highly confidential and sensitive conflict information in the firm's Blackbook utilized by Firm Counsel to flag elevated risks of potential conflicts. Including adding, removing and updating entries as needed.
    • Assist attorneys during the lateral onboarding process by staging and/or creating new client matters.
    • Assist departing attorneys by preparing a list of client/matters the attorney billed to while at the firm. Including extracting related party information.
  • Restricted Securities List (5%)
    • Assist Firm Counsel by maintaining the firms restricted securities lists used to evaluate whether a covered person has material information for a publicly-traded company for which the firm performs services. Including adding, removing and updating entries as needed.
  • General and Administrative (5%)
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
